of sacrificed animals was burned on the altar and prohibited by the Mosaic law
from the Hebrew diet (Lev 3:17). Here it is used as figuratively, meaning prosperity and fertile lands. (Although the present recommendations are not to live off of any kind of fat, it is not used as a negative overtone.)
